Sculptra Aesthetic is a collagen-replacing dermal filler that gradually adds volume and contours your face in a subtle way over a period of months.
If you’ve never had a facial filler before, talk to us. We’re determined to make it easy for you to experience this wonder of modern medicine. You never have to worry about looking overdone. You’re unique, and you should walk out of our office feeling and looking like a younger, prettier version of you.
What can Sculptra Aesthetic do for me?
Like Radiesse, Sculptra Aesthetic is injected a bit deeper than most of the other injectables. Sculptra stimulates your body to make more collagen, which helps you to look younger naturally.
Sculptra Aesthetic is especially good for patients who have excessive fat loss in the face or deep creases, but it’s good for shallow wrinkles, too. It can even lift the jowl area and fill in hollowed temples.
Sculptra Aesthetic requires about three treatments (on average), stretched out over a period of months. This can be a good thing because the results are dramatic but so slow and progressive that no one will notice. They’ll just say that you look great. If you want instant results, however, this isn’t the filler for you

Do Sculptra Aesthetic injections hurt?
Sculptra Aesthetic injections go a bit deeper, but they don’t necessarily hurt worse than other cosmetic fillers. Lidocaine in the injections helps to numb you during your treatment, and as always, we can hold your hand or give you a squeeze toy to ease the small ouch if you’re afraid or sensitive (and aren’t we all!)
How long do Sculptra Aesthetic injections last?
You may need three or more Sculptra Aesthetic treatments, but once you have your results, they can last as up to two years or sometimes longer.
What is recovery like?
Sculptra Aesthetic injections don’t require a recovery period, but you may experience some minor bruising or swelling, as well as some small invisible lumps where the injections occurred. Don’t worry. This is perfectly normal and will go away quickly. If necessary, just use some makeup to hide the faint bruises until they subside.
A point of difference between other fillers and Sculptra is the required massaging after the procedure. You help the process by following our instructions to massage the area for 5 minutes 5 times a day for 5 days. It’s easy to remember: 5-5-5, and that’s the minimum of massaging you should do. We encourage you to do more for great results.
Is Sculptra Aesthetic safe?
Sculptra Aesthetic is a synthetic substance made of poly-L-lactic acid, but it’s FDA-approved, biocompatible, and biodegradable. Doctors have been using it successfully for decades, and no allergy tests are required.
Rand may recommend more than one type of facial filler to get you the results you want. Read about the others: Radiesse, Restylane and Perlane, Juvederm and Juvederm Plus, and Belotero, and check out our Liquid Facelift.
